Winter League 25/26 round 1 , Hebron
What started out with a blue sky , light winds and decent air temperature turned very dark and very wet. Weighing in by torchlight with section sheets turning to mush. We've wanted rain all year but now we have too much. Welcome to the winter league !!
On to the fishing.
A hard match was anticipated in keeping with the conditions in the run up.
Small Roach , Rudd and Perch provided bites for all but little in the way of weight building. Terry Guthrie managed to find a trio of good Perch on the chopped worm and caster backed by small Roach to get his league off to the best possible start. Well fished Terry.

Winter league round 2 , Hebron.
Another damp day with very poor visibility.
It didn't prevent Terry from making the most of favoured peg 10. Fishing a 5mtr whip and feeding small balls of groundbait he amassed over 100 fish up to 3oz for an emphatic win.
Well done again Terry.

Next match Saturday 3/1/26 , Angel Lookout ( silvers match)

Winter League rd3 , Angel - Lookout lake
A gruelling match today with two thirds of the field failing to get a bite.
Ice breaking and repeat swim clearance were required to get a bait in the water.
Sam Mears included a good Skimmer in amongst small Roach on the pole and maggot for a comfortable win to get his league up and running.
Well done Sam.

With water temperature rock bottom following the melting of the majority of the ice sport was unsurprisingly very slow as the weights demonstrate. A pity as bait presentation was spot on (although Mark and Barry would rightly disagree as the last of the ice lingered in their pegs)

No ice breakers required today thankfully. I must admit I wasn't too disappointed when the last peg in the bag was 14 . A couple of early Carp on the bomb and bread were an ideal start. Long pole lines only produced small Roach but the waggler line eventually came good with bursts of two or three decent Ide at a time on maggot. A further Carp also fell to the waggler.

No rain, light winds and results in daylight . All very pleasant and the fishing wasn't bad either with some very close weights and everyone catching. Terry completed his third win of the series putting himself in a very strong position to win the league. Fishing both 4mtr and 12mtr pole lines with live and dead maggot over groundbait, his 80 odd fish included a couple of bonus 2lb skimmers which made all the difference.
Well done again Terry.

Results from rpound 7 match .
Pleasant weather conditions for late February other than a typical late match soaking.
A tight frame with mainly Roach , Perch and Gudgeon with the odd Skimmer showing.

Terry opted to fish the pole over groundbait for the duration of the match catching small Perch initially before the Roach moved in but in keeping with the lake in general he suffered numerous quiet spells.
Well done Terry.

Bob put an impressive double figure net of mainly Roach on the scales to head up a string of good pole weights on the farm bank. Following two frosts it would appear the fish moved to deeper water with the other two banks poor in comparison.
Overall top 3
1st Terry Guthrie 38 points
2nd Nigel Ripley 38 points
3rd Bob Cranmer. 37 points.
A very close result with Terry winning the trophy due to a greater number of match wins.
Very well done Terry and Bob.
